Today we spent some time getting to know one another by filling out a sheet with likes and dislikes, pets, siblings, future careers, etc. We talked about what a SuperGirl is like and we made a list of words to describe her. The girls had great thoughts and we wrote down: creative, happy, ,caring, helpful, kind, brave and confident, to name a few.
After snacks we sat in a circle to talk about our topic for today (and one theme throughout the summer): WORDS. The discussion included the following:
What we say affects other people
Saying something kind can brighten someone's day
We need to stop ourselves before we say something hurtful, it is hard for someone to forget what you said
What is gossip and rumors?
It's important to be trustworthy if someone confides in you
The girls had great observations about this and were very engaged in the discussion. We then stood in a big circle and played telephone a few times to see how easily a message can be misheard, misunderstood or flat out changed by someone else.

After this we only had about a half hour left for free play which included chalk drawing, jump roping, playing in the fort and dancing, which lead to cheer leading poses!
Our SuperGirl goal for this week: Say something kind to someone every day.
We'll kick off our next meeting by talking about if and how we accomplished our goal!
Until next time...
