Today I didn't really have a message to share with the group.
However, upon arrival it was made known that two of our SuperGirls had
forgotten to tell their parents where they were the night before
and there was a good, long while that the parents were looking for them and very stressed out about it.
This lead to a discussion about communication and how important it is
for you to be safe!
All kinds of things came up like not talking to someone who asks for directions or to someone who needs help finding a lost pet or even someone who says your mom has been in an accident and you need to go with them.
I told them it is a bummer to think that there are adults out there who would want to take or hurt a child, but that is a reality and although very rare, we have to be extra careful and think before we respond.
Some good thoughts and resolutions were brought up and I know it had them thinking and will hopefully pop back into their heads the next time they want to go somewhere and forget to tell someone!
It was time to jump into our craft which would take a little more time today.
Lanterns that were glass jars painted with wire twisted handles.
Some spent quite a bit of time on these and others didn't. Crafting doesn't seem to be of much interest to the girls anymore so I've kept it simple this year but these are cute and can be hung in a window or used outside as a lantern.
Then it was off to the park for some free time which always includes posing for pictures.
That was it! A pretty simple day which seems to be the theme this year. The focus and desire to do structured things is pretty low. And that is okay!
